Another Bodyline Review!

Originally posted March 13, 2013

We’ll start from the top and make our way down, I suppose.
I bought the L285 cardigan in red for $27:
Image

I was kind of taking a risk on this one because the measurements were smaller than mine, but it stretched pretty well. The fabric itself is surprisingly soft and comfortable. It does have a few issues though. It came with this terrible lace included in the ruffle that was super itchy:
Image

I cut it off, but it was still incredibly itchy and the ruffle started to fall off. I scrapped it and used it for a pattern.
Would I buy this again? No.
Next we have L047, the first JSK I ever bought. I was having some money trouble and had to sell it, but it dropped to $33 so I got it again. It’s now down to $27 (screw you, Bodyline)
Image

It came with Bodyline’s cheap satin ribbon in the bib and back shirring, but I took those out.
Image

It’s pretty true to size in the bust department, but there’s some wiggle room if you have a slightly larger waist that the given measurements.
Image

The fabric isn’t the best, but it’s acceptable, and I love the gingham strawberry print.
Image

It has rose lace instead of strawberry lace, which bothers me. But that’s really just nitpicking. It also came with waist ties attached, but I hate waist ties so I cut them off.
Would I buy this again? I would, and I have.
And this brings us to L445, which I call the heart JSK. My friend actually bought this for my birthday for $40.
Image

I stuffed two petticoats under this to see how it would look, which is why the skirt portion is a bit odd. As you can see, the heart is a bit distorted because the largest size was sold out.
It came with a huge bow on a headband, and a detachable bow for the dress. It’s made of a weird material. I’m used to Bodyline’s decent quality cotton, but this feels just a little bit… plastic-y, I guess?
Image

The straps are also a bit strange. They’re gathered where they meet the JSK and bigger around the shoulder.
Image

The lace is alright. Nothing to really brag about, but not awful.
Would I buy this again? I didn’t buy this one, but I’m going to say yes, I would buy it. I’ve wanted this JSK since I first saw it on Bodyline’s site and even with all the disappointments I really do like it.
And now for the skirt I bought. This is L048, and yes, it is the same print as the JSK. I really like this print.
Image

It’s pretty much the same deal as the JSK, expect the measurements on the site are too small. My waist is 85 cm and this fits me fine. The lacing is the cheap satin ribbon which has to stay until I can replace it.
Image

Would I buy this again? Yes. Especially for the $20 it is now.

And now for my final item: shoes251 in red. I ordered these for $40 in a size 24.5 and they’re a bit long, but I have to get this size because my feet are wider than usual.
Image

This picture makes them look brighter than they are. They’re a few shades darker than this.
They arrived without scuff marks and damage.
Would I buy these again? Yes.
That’s all for now!

My 2012 Coordinates

Originally posted December 26, 2012
2012 is coming to a close, and I thought that I’d share my coordinates from this year. As I’ve said before, this is the first year I’ve ever worn Lolita. I still need to build my wardrobe up because I don’t have much beyond basics. This is going to go from first to most recent. Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of some of the things I sold, but the majority of those weren’t full coordinates anyway. Here we go.
My first coordinate:
coord 1 2012

Very simple, as you can see. This was actually a rushed coord because I had to go to a meet up, but the skirt I wanted to wear hadn’t arrived. So I made myself a simple black skirt.
  • Blouse: Anna House
  • Skirt: Handmade by me
  • Tights: Forever 21
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Purse: Thrifted
Coord 2:
coord 2 2012

This is the skirt I wanted to wear to the meet up. It showed up the next day, of course. This picture is one I took today.
  • Blouse: Anna House
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 3:
coord 3 2012

My first ever classic coordinate (I don’t really count my first one because I didn’t have a style in mind when I put it together). This was before I added more poof to the petti I got. I still like this coord a lot.
  • Tights: Forever 21
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 4:
coord 4 2012

This one is kind of cheating because it’s a screencap from a video. I didn’t have any pictures of my Love Jewelry JSK and I couldn’t take one today because I sold it. I decided that sweet Lolita, while adorable, wasn’t really for me after wearing this a couple times.
  • Blouse: Anna House
  • Purse: Thrifted
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 5:
coord 5 2012

My beautiful Infanta JSK. I sold this after Halloween because I couldn’t wear it without feel light headed. It was just too tight around the bust, even with my sports bra. Shame, because I really loved this JSK.
  • JSK: Infanta
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 6:
coord 6 2012

This is the kind of sweet Lolita that I really like. It’s simple and cute and I like polka dots.
  • Cardigan: Vanity
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 7:
coord 7 2012

It’s so difficult to choose my favorite Bodyline item because I like so many of them. But this JSK is definitely high on the list.
  • Blouse: Anna House
  • Everything else: Bodyline
Coord 8:
coord 9

This is my most recent skirt. I bought it off the facebook sales and it is lovely. Unfortunately the zipper broke, so I’m going to have to replace it.
  • Everything but the tights (sock dreams) are Bodyline.
So there you have it. It’s not much, but it’s what I’ve got. I’ve been in a pretty difficult financial situation the past few months, so building my wardrobe has been put on the back burner. This will hopefully change in the coming year.

Relatively Affordable

Originally posted October 12, 2o12
If you follow me on Tumblr you’ve probably seen these already, but I wanted to talk about them a bit more here. I’ve started up a series called ‘Relatively Affordable,’ where I put together coordinates that I try to keep under $170. Right now most of the items are from Bodyline and Fanplusfriend, but that’s because I don’t think it’s really fair to list things from Taobao when I can’t include the shopping service fees and what have you. Also, Qutieland is slightly more expensive than F+F, so there’s that.
The first one I did is for Steampunk lolita.
As you can see, the cost comes to about $150. I’ve been in love with this dress since I first saw it and wanted to put something together for it. I’m rather proud of this coord, actually, despite the fact that it’s only made up of four pieces.
Next up we have sweet lolita:
Image
This one is around $100. I actually own this JSK in blue and it’s really cute. I really like the cardigan because I don’t typically use them when I try to put together coords. I don’t know why, because they’re really cute.
The last one I’m going to show you was requested by someone on my tumblr:
Image
This one is the most expensive so far. I could have knocked about $20 off the total price if I went with a different pair of shoes, but the ones in the picture are just so damn cute. I want a pair in every color.
If you found these interesting or helpful at all, you can see more here. I might post some more of them here eventually, but right now I’m going to stick with posting all of them on Tumblr. If you have a request for a certain style, please let me know and I’ll do my best.
